Our Vision: Expanding the Touhou Doujin Scene in the USA

Hello Bayhou Project members,

I would like to say welcome to our community/group for we are all Touhou Project fans. Especially here in the Bay Area. I would like to iterate what we, Bayhou Project, are all about. We, Bayhou Project, are a Touhou Project fan group based in the Bay Area of California. Many of us come from different backgrounds, occupations, locations, etc. but we come together at least once a month to hang out and have a great time. We think it's finally time for us to start making our doujin content now that we have grown.

For the most part, Japan's doujin culture is still going strong, while America's is still starting out and still very different in terms of the culture of "Creation." TouhouCon, despite many holes it made, it had one vision in mind before it died (I dunno if it will revive rip), "Where Creators Come to Play." That is the idea that they wanted to convey to the public trying to say that they're not just another "Anime" convention. What they wanted to do was to a create an American Comiket. American anime cons with their artist alley, is the closest to the idea of a Japanese doujin market, but the goal for these artists is to make money (hooray for capitalism) compared to doing it for fun.

With the recent releases of Touhou Project's official games, Touhou 16 - Hidden Star in Four Seasons and Touhou 15.5 - Antimony of Common Flowers, releasing on Steam, making it widely available to the public worldwide. We hope that will allow for Touhou Project to grow more. With ZUN visiting the USA as a guest at certain cons, to him, we showed him that there is a huge fanbase here in the USA.

We, Bayhou Project, envision a future where doujins of all forms can flourish and grow here in the United States, especially from Touhou Project. We hope you'll be able to join us in the fun and events we host if you're able to visit us here in the Bay Area or chat with us on discord. Even if you're not part of the Bay Area, you are welcome to join us.

If you would like to contribute to our upcoming works, feel free to reach out via Discord and look for us in the #creative-doujin channel!

Thank you,
Bayhou Project
